My bedroom is being demolished by two kittens.

I had a really good time at social dancing last night.

See, there are no more classes until next semester because Iliana has gone to Bulgaria or something but there is still dancing every Tuesday and Thursday evening. The comm just play different music and if you know the dance, you dance.

I made James come last night so we had a good time and then I was asked to dance by this tall guy with dyed red hair and odd socks. I’ve seen him around and he’s probably advanced at least. Anyway we had a boogie and he was messing around with moves and stuff which was fun.

Then he says to me, “Your jive is good.”

So I was like, “Oh, thanks,” while I was thinking, “Okay, he’s clearly been watching me - that’s weird, okay, cool, never mind.”

Then he’s like, “So I hear you’re a ballerina.”

Uh huh. Clearly been talking about me. So I smiled and said, “Yes. Yes, I am.”

And he proceeded basically to tell me that I was too good to be a beginner and that he was impressed that my ballroom and latin technique wasn’t being negatively affected by my ballet training.

The point is, it was really nice to hear something lovely from a stranger. Because my dancing means a lot to me but I never believe my friends when they say anything nice about it.

Later on, Bryce asked me to quickstep. (Firstly, I learnt to quickstep this Tuesday. I have done it once and I’m rather terrible. And secondly, I’m rather intimidated by Bryce because he’s good, and charismatic and cliquey.) Anyway I said yes because I like quickstep but I did warn him about my terribleness.

And then horror of horrors - literally not even half way around the dance floor, my one heel got stuck in my other shoe and I fell flat on my back in front of everyone. Okay,  so I found it more hilarious than embarrassing and Bryce was so concerned that I was okay. Anyway I got up quickly and carried on and we had a lovely dance despite me not always having a slightest clue what I was doing and he said thank you after and said I was light. Which was really nice.

I had a few other nice dances and a few awkward ones but it was a good evening overall.

This is an awesome quickstep.

(I have just learnt to quickstep and I really like it. My current favourites are quickstep and Viennese waltz.)
